Poor posture, injury, chronic stress and trauma can cause areas of your connective tissue to distort, tighten, or become unsupportive. Over time, patterns of chronic tension and bracing can develop in order to compensate for these problems. This leads to pain, dysfunction, instability and restricted movement. I can help you release these painful patterns of tension and bracing, restore normal shape, length and elasticity to your connective tissue and improve the structure and function of your body.
The Rolfing series is the formula for improving your posture
A typical series consists of ten sessions. Each session addresses your specific postural needs and builds upon the results of the previous sessions in a cumulative process. As you can see in the picture, the results are visible and long-lasting.
My practice is intended to be a collaboration between the two of us. It is important to me that you to feel empowered to actively participate in your sessions. I welcome you to be present, ask questions, notice positive changes and give me important feedback about how you experience the process.
Following a Rolfing session, you may notice that you feel less pain
In addition, you may notice new sensations, like feeling taller, stronger, more grounded, calmer or more energized. You may also notice feeling an improvement in your overall level of health, more vitality, enhanced physical performance, greater flexibility and improved balance as you progress through your sessions. Chronic discomforts may disappear before your series is completed. As you embrace these positive changes, you may also notice that you feel less chronic stress and tension in your daily life.
Rolfing can help increase your level of self-awareness
Through the ten session series, you have the opportunity to gain improved awareness of how it feels to be in your body and move through the world. The most important benefit you may receive from your sessions with me is conscious awareness of your own unhelpful habits. This conscious awareness gives you the power to make positive changes for yourself. When you become able to notice your own unhelpful habits, it becomes easy to shift to healthier habits which support your ability to maintain your health and sense of internal balance.
You are likely to meet or surpass your initial goals by the end of your tenth session
You may experience relief from chronic pain, a greater feeling of vitality, enhanced physical fitness and stamina, improved mental outlook and a greater ability to cope with stress. If you have had severe postural problems or have experienced trauma, multiple injuries or surgeries, you may feel the need for more than ten sessions.
Post-ten Rolfing sessions will further improve your posture and wellbeing
If you work in a stressful or physically demanding career, you may choose to schedule periodic tune-ups in order to maintain your health and wellness. Additionally, you may seek out further sessions with me after some time has passed due to injury or a desire to work on personal improvement. Each session is specifically tailored to your individual needs. Feel free to request either single sessions or a mini-series.
Rolf Movement® Integration sessions focus on improving core strength and healthy coordination
Movement Integration sessions are a great way to make the most out of the positive changes you get from your sessions with me. However, it is not necessary to have any Rolfing sessions before having a Movement Integration session. Through the practice of slow movement and exercises that expand your perceptual awareness, we can improve your sense of balance, coordination and core strength. We can add movement sessions to your Rolfing series, or do a series of movement sessions tailored to your specific interests and needs.
